The 35-year-old joined the Elefanti last summer after his contract at Milan wasn’t extended by Vice-President Adriano Galliani.

“I immediately settled into the place, there is a great environment here and I want to continue my career in Catania,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“This squad has grown a lot since the start of the season,” said the centre-back who has scored five goals in 30 League games this term.

Catania are safe from relegation, while Udinese need a win to make sure of their place in next season’s Champions League.
