Italian Football Federation President Carlo Tavecchio says a fund of €5m is 'approved' to save Parma from bankruptcy.

The risks posed to Serie A by the financial implosion of the Crociati, not least the League’s integrity and remaining fixtures for the season, has led to a number of summits held today in support of the club.

At the end of today's meetings with city mayor Federico Pizzarotti, the Parma players, and President of the Footballers' Union Damiano Tommasi, Tavecchio spoke to the Press about the new measures that are being put in place.

“After a thorough examination of Parma’s situation, the Lega Serie A has approved a fund of €5m for the upcoming [financial] requirements, presumably from the 19th, when bankruptcy proceedings take place,” the FIGC chief has explained.

“On the 12th of this month there will be another audit, when the owner could meet his commitments.

“If this does not happen, then for the first time in history the Lega will be available with an act of solidarity that will lead to management of a temporary financial budget for the club until the end of the season.

“After that we'll be there to make sure that football keeps being played in Parma. This is a very important act, and the Lega played its role in it by balancing the parts.

“Confirmation that the next game [Parma-Atalanta] will be played as scheduled was passed on to us by the AIC and its President [Damiano Tommasi].

“The players started off by saying that the problem wasn't about money, it was about the rules in the system.

“We reassured them that we're working to put together a set of rules that can guarantee certain parameters when a club is purchased.”
