The Lega Serie A has announced an emergency meeting for Monday February 7 to elect a new President after Paolo Dal Pino resigned.

Officially Dal Pino handed in his resignation because he and his family are moving to California, but there has been a great deal of tension behind the scenes for months.

The 20 Serie A clubs will hold a meeting next Monday and try to elect a new President of the Lega.

If they are not able to reach an agreement, the FIGC (Italian Football Federation) run by Gabriele Gravina will take control and push through reforms.

Among other things, Gravina has urged Serie A to cut back from 20 teams to 18 or even 16.

He has also suggested possibly creating a play-offs system to decide the Scudetto and play-outs for relegation to Serie B.

  1. Gravina, he would be a laugh if he wasn’t such a lie. Calcio will never be the same with this individual.

Everyone who cares for football worldwide should be aware of this enemy & his diabolical plans.

A playoff to decide the Scudetto? Can you believe this?

This loon is not fit for office.

League founders rolling in their graves

He has no pride, respect or integrity

    A serious tradition killer

    AN ENEMY OF FOOTBALL

  2. It’s not a good sign. Dal Pino spoke real + encouraged Serie A to become the most, watched league in the world again + he supported new stadia, investment + media platform’s! But the system is against him. And what is a play-off system or trimming down of the teams really, going to accomplish? It may add a bit more drama + money, but it’s very notion goes against the concept of a league! Which is, whoever wins it is the best team? It would probably be done in the name of progress too? Meanwhile, real reform + progress, is ignored or denounced as a threat to Italian heritage + tradition! I love Italian Football but Serie A atm, remind’s me of a backward, man who purposefully urinate’s in to the wind! It’s not only Italy. All countrie’s face obstacles. England has a BJ for a PM for eg + he’s only the head of a much deeper, systemic dis-ease! There’s probably not enough respect for tradition over there, but the over-emphasis on the pound is currently, helping them in these, tough times!
