Maurizio Sarri led his side to a surprising runners-up spot in Serie A last season. This away trip could be a tricky start for the Biancocelesti but these Lecce vs. Lazio predictions suggest an away win in Puglia this weekend.

Lecce vs. Lazio odds

1 – Lazio to win – 11/10

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 4/6

3 – Both teams not to score – 4/5

4 – Ciro Immobile to score at anytime – 13/8

5 – Lazio to win to nil – 12/5

Lecce will look at staying up last season as an achievement but the Salentini were one of the lowest goal scorers in Serie A not to be relegated – and they could find things equally as tough this season. Influential midfielder – and captain – Morten Hjulmand has left for Sporting and Lecce might struggle.

Roberto D’Aversa has come in as the new head coach after being sacked from his post at Sampdoria in January. He will be hoping that the club can attract some new personnel before the transfer deadline.

Lecce liked to play creatively last season – a tactic that didn’t always work so well – and a defeat to Lazio looks likely, with the home side doing well if they even manage to find the net in front of their own fans at the Stadio Via del mare.

It will be interesting to see whether Lazio can repeat the form from last season that saw the Roman club sneak in behind Napoli at the top of the league ahead of the two Milan sides. No Sergej Milinković-Savić for the first time in eight years will make repeating that feat a tough task.

That being said, Lazio still have the ever-reliable Ciro Immobile to look to for goals and some interesting attacking additions to the squad in the shape of Daichi Kamada from Eintracht Frankfurt and Gustav Isaksen from Midtjylland in Denmark.

Three points from the trip south should not be too much of a problem for Lazio, but it may not be quite the comprehensive victory that Sarri would have hoped for from the opening day.

Lecce team news

Roberto D’Aversa will be up against it keeping Lecce safe this season but we can still expect them to try to play football at all times. There hasn’t been that much activity on the transfer front and it should be Gabriel Strefezza who will be expected to score the goals to claim what would be an unlikely victory here.

Lazio team news

Maurizio Sarri may refrain from throwing any of his new attacking recruits into the starting XI this weekend, hoping to get the required result from the likes of Felipe Anderson and Ciro Immobile instead. That could change towards the end though, especially if Lazio need another goal to claim all three points.
