Newly-promoted Lecce have reportedly targeted Paris Saint-Germain and Cameroon striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

The Salentini finished second in Serie B last season, earning promotion to the top flight along with Brescia and Hellas Verona.

They have been seeking a striker all summer to partner Gianluca Lapadula and appear to have given up on Sassuolo’s Khouma Babacar, who is closer to SPAL.

According to Sky Sport Italia, their latest target is 30-year-old Choupo-Moting.

The 30-year-old Cameroon international has made a series of free transfers in recent years, moving from Hamburger SV through Schalke 04, Stoke City and last summer Paris Saint-Germain.

Last season, he made 31 competitive appearances with three goals and two assists, but became most famous for some quite remarkable misses that went viral.

Choupo-Moting is only under contract with PSG until the end of this season, although there is the option to add another year.

He scored 14 goals in 49 senior caps for Cameroon, but played for Germany at youth level, having been born and raised in Hamburg.
