Valeri Bojinov and Gennaro Delvecchio have realigned their allegiances to Lecce after deadline day returns to the southern side.

Striker Bojinov and midfielder Delvecchio both re-signed for the Salentini on Tuesday, having both previously had spells with the club in the last decade.

Bojinov broke on to the Italian football scene in a three-year spell with the Giallorossi that ended in 2005, the summer that saw Delvecchio first join the club for a year.

Speaking at their joint unveiling alongside fellow new arrival Luca Di Matteo, the duo insisted that as soon as they knew Lecce were interested in them, there was no second choice.

“My will was clear,” stated Bojinov, who was also linked in January with other former clubs Fiorentina and Parma.

“When I left, I never stopped following Lecce. When I returned, I did it for the love of Lecce.

“At 18 you can make many mistakes. I came back not for the money, but only because I want to win and I intend to put myself into first team consideration.

“I don’t want to cause any problems, the Coach will decide who will go on the pitch.”

Meanwhile, Delvecchio revealed that he chose Lecce over the option of another, unnamed club.

“I joined to help give a hand to the team, as they are fighting. I chose this club even though there was another proposition on the table.

“This is my homeland and I want to do well for my homeland.”
