Rafael Leao admits he is ‘happy’ to hear Real Madrid are interested, but he is ‘keeping my feet firmly on the ground’ and wants to be a reference point for Milan.

The left-sided winger turns 23 next month and was considered by many to be a key figure in the Scudetto success, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 34 Serie A appearances.

That includes a hat-trick of assists in the decisive 3-0 victory away to Sassuolo on the last day of the season.

The Portugal international is under contract until June 2024 with a €150m release clause and has reportedly caught the eye of Real Madrid.

“I am at Milan, I have another two years left on my contract and I feel at home there. I am happy to hear Milan say I am untouchable,” Leao told A Bola newspaper.

“The rumours about Real Madrid interest make me happy, but I am keeping my feet firmly on the ground. I am proud to work with such experienced players.”

Milan director Paolo Maldini described Leao as ‘a rough diamond’ and the player himself admits it has been a slow process getting that potential to really come out.

“I left Sporting very young in 2018 and went to Lille. People might not realise it, but Ligue 1 is a strong league too and I evolved from there.

“The first two years didn’t go the way I wanted at Milan, but now I am more mature and feel more confident in myself. I want to be a reference point for my club and national side. I hope to do great things in future.”

  1. That’s the spirit, man! You really can turn into a legend for our side.

    Anyway… permanece conosco, bravo Leão!!!

  2. There is too much talk about money for player transfers and we hardly talk about their salaries in Milan ! If that limit isn’t taken to the next level, I’m confident we’ll lose stars like Leao.

  3. Good point. Will Leao move to the right because Vinicius owns the left side. I wonder what Real is thinking with this move or are they just snapping up the best talents

  4. Talk is cheap.

    Kessie said similar…

    Kaka said similar….

Sign the contract, then Rafa can look to be a symbol.

  5. @Kam even donnaruma said same, for Kaka it was financial issues, that aside please let him just sign the contract first then we would believe his words, so for now my beloved fans, keep your fingers crossed 🤞
