Juventus would make no mistake in signing Nicola Leali from Brescia, says the Lombard club’s former sporting director.

The Turin giants are reportedly in pole position to net the young goalkeeper, who was born in 1993, with whispers suggesting that a deal has already been done.

“He’s a great signing for the Bianconeri,” Gianluca Nani told Il Sussidiario. “I am convinced that Leali will be the goalkeeper of the future.

“He’s been the first choice custodian in all of Italy’s youth international sides and it’s no coincidence that Barcelona wanted him.

“Juventus have done well in allowing him to remain at Brescia until the end of the season. That will allow him to gain even more experience in Serie B and that’s important.

“The road to becoming Gigi Buffon’s heir is long, but he undoubtedly has the qualities to do well.”

Leali has also been tracked by Atletico Madrid and Sporting Lisbon.

According to the transfer rumour mill, Juve have agreed to pay the Lombard outfit €5m for the custodian.

Buffon, now 33, joined La Vecchia Signora in 2001 after they paid Parma a massive £33m for his signature.
