Toma Basic has his heart set on Lazio, according to Sportitalia, and the club is whittling down the €11m Girondins de Bordeaux asking price.

The 24-year-old midfielder was requested by new Aquile coach Maurizio Sarri and had also been linked with Napoli, as well as clubs in England and France.

His contract with Bordeaux only runs to June 2022 and an exit is likely this summer.

Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà claims that Basic agreed personal terms with Lazio several weeks ago, so the only issue now is the transfer fee.

He maintains the Biancocelesti have so far made an offer worth €7m plus another €2m in performance-related bonuses.

Bordeaux are holding out for €8m plus an extra €3m in various add-ons in order to sell the Croatia international.

Basic was signed from Hajduk Split in 2018 for €3.5m.

He made 34 Ligue 1 appearances last season, contributing four goals and one assist to his club side.
