Lazio President Claudio Lotito says his side plan to promote five of their youth players to the first team next season.

The Stadio Olimpico chief was discussing the launch of the club’s new Academy and revealed he was planning to let Biancocelesti fans name it.

He also praised the youth set-up at large and claimed the fruits of the club’s work at that level are beginning to show.

“I want the fans to choose the name of the Academy,” Lotito told Lazio Style Radio 100.7. “It’s right that it gets named after someone who has represented the history of this club and will also represent it in the future.

“We have set out on a journey that is beginning to show its fruits, and will continue to over time.

“Soon we will open the new Academy, made up of six pitches, living quarters and facilities that will help develop players and people under the Lazio name.

“We want to create champions in life before champions just in sport. It is important that this club takes an international role in bringing the core values of this sport back to the fore.

“At youth level we have the highest ranking and that shows the direction we are taking.

“You can see the fruits of it, next year we will promote five young players to the first team squad. This year it was Keita, last year it was Onazi and before that it was Kozak.”
