Lazio are planning to use Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in a more advanced role to make up for their relatively thin squad.

The Aquile are one point behind Juventus in the Serie A table, with the campaign set to resume on June 20.

Playing twice a week to get the fixture list finished in time for August 2, Serie A teams will be allowed to make five substitutions rather than three.

This benefits large squads such as Juventus and Inter, who have numerous options for every role, but Lazio’s parsimonious approach now risks being a problem.

According to Sky Sport Italia, coach Simone Inzaghi is trying to provide more alternatives for the attack by moving midfielder Milinkovic-Savic into a more advanced role.

The only available strikers are Ciro Immobile, Felipe Caicedo, Joaquin Correa and 21-year-old Bobby Adekanye, while Luis Alberto can also play behind a centre-forward.

As for the left side of midfield, Adam Marusic and Senad Lulic are the candidates, while in defence Patric and Bastos can stand in for Stefan Radu.
