Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi is heading to Genoa on loan, according to Sky Sport Italia and LaLazioSiamoNoi.

It was suggested this evening that a deal had been struck for the Italy Under-21 international.

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi had confirmed this week that “we really like Cataldi, but it’s never easy to negotiate with Claudio Lotito.”

The talks seem to have paid off, because Cataldi is on his way to Genoa for a medical.

Crucially, there is no option to buy, so the Lazio youth product will return to Rome in the summer.

If there is an option for Genoa, it’ll be protected by a counter-option for the Biancocelesti.

The 22-year-old has two goals and seven assists in 47 Serie A appearances.

Cataldi is seen as a replacement for Tomas Rincon, who was sold to Juventus this month.
