Former Lazio player Andrea Agostinelli believes fans of the Biancocelesti are right to protest against President Claudio Lotito.

Sections of the club’s support have boycotted the team’s last three home matches, while fans in Stadio Olimpico for Sunday’s match with Milan held up cards claiming ‘Free Lazio.’

“I think the fans are right to protest,” Agostinelli said to Lalaziosiamonoi.it. “The fans are football’s principle component.

“From the club’s perpective, they can’t ignore it. There is no longer a good relationship between the decision makers and the majority of fans.

“Lotito needs to realise this frostiness he has created but most of all he needs to notice that it will only thaw with results.

“It is down to him and the board to provide an adequate squad.

“My only regret about the protests is that they are likely to affect results out on the pitch.”
