Lazio are struggling to sell their players and raise funds, as it’s reported Real Mallorca want a discount on Vedat Muriqi.

The Aquile are in a similar position to last summer, when their transfer market was effectively blocked by the liquidity index.

That means they cannot buy more players or even sign free agents until they have sold others to balance the books.

It was hoped that Muriqi would bring in €12m after a six-month loan period at a cost of €0.5m was completed.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that while the Spanish side does want to make his move permanent, it won’t be for the full previously agreed €12m option.

The Kosovo international impressed in Mallorca, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 15 LaLiga appearances.

Lazio desperately need to sell Muriqi, having paid €20m to sign him from Fenerbahce in September 2020.

The 28-year-old centre-forward made 49 competitive appearances in the Lazio jersey, scoring just two goals.

  1. I’m normally an advocate for a reduced transfer fee on most players but he helped save them from relegation.. That alone should make him worth the fee, surely.

  2. Having watched a couple of Mallorca games, I was astonished with just how good muriqi was playing! Incredible considering he will probably go down as one of the absolute worst footballers to ever play in serie a
