Lazio are reportedly close to renewing Simone Inzaghi’s contract, extending his deal for a further two years until June 2023.

The Biancocelesti are currently second in Serie A, one point behind Juventus, and the 44-year-old tactician has been a huge success during his first four years in charge at the Olimpico.

Inzaghi was first hired as a caretaker coach and was promptly rewarded for his efforts at the end of the 2015-16.

He was appointed on a permanent deal in July 2016 and the former striker has since picked up the Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana.

In the League it has remained difficult for Lazio to break into the top four, but this year the Biancocelesti have taken a big leap, beating the Old Lady in December to signal their intentions of keeping up with the reigning champions.

Il Messaggero claims President Claudio Lotito currenlty works on a new contrat, as Inzaghi's current deal expires in June 2021.

The tactician from Piacenza will reportedly receive a contract worth €2.5m a year and if he wins the Scudetto, his salary will increase to €3m a year.
