According to Sky Sport Italia, exams undergone by Lorenzo Pellegrini this morning didn’t highlight a muscle lesion, but the Italy international could rest against Fiorentina on Sunday.

Pellegrini was forced off the pitch in a 1-0 win over Genoa in Coppa Italia last night.

He had felt discomfort in his femoral quadriceps, but exams undergone this morning didn’t highlight a muscle lesion, reports Sky Sport.

However, Pellegrini may rest against Fiorentina on Sunday when the Tuscans travel to the Stadio Olimpico for the next Serie A game.

Pellegrini, 26, has played a key role for Roma this season, scoring five goals and delivering eight assists in 21 games across all competitions this season.

Pellegrini has already missed six games due to injuries this season and pulled out of Italy’s squad for the Euros in 2021 due to physical issues.

He signed a contract extension with the Gialloriss in October 2021 and his current deal expires in June 2026.
