Mamuka Jugeli, the agent of Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, opened up about his client’s happiness at the club and his first season in the Campania capital.
The 22-year-old Georgian winger was one of the stars of the show in Serie A this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 13 assists across 34 league appearances as the Partenopei charged to the third Scudetto in their history.
Although Kvaratskhelia is contracted to Napoli until 2027, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen to lock down his star winger and is planning to offer him a new contract with improved terms in the coming months.
Speaking to GeoTeam, Jugeli first discussed his client Kvaratskhelia’s first season with Napoli.
“The first year with Napoli was very positive, he had an excellent season and has already left his name in the history of this team. I hope the second season will be even better, he can do anything and I expect even more from Khvicha, I say this because I know his professional skills.
“When we arrived we knew Napoli was a great team, we knew it was the right place to express his skills and I am not surprised by his impact.
“I have to thank Kvaratskhelia and the Napoli management for their trust, what he did was only possible because of his skills and only he would have been able to do it.”
He was asked about the winger’s drop in form in the final stages of this season.
“Napoli have many players from different countries who are not written in capital letters on the football map, they have played many games and there can be a negative period in the course of a season.
“I don’t think Kvaratskhelia has had a drop or played badly in the last period, I don’t say that because for me he is like a son.”
The agent discussed the future of Kvaratskhelia and a possible new contract with Napoli.
“He has a long contract with Napoli, obviously there will be improvements but it will all happen when the season is over and we meet the management. Everything that is written differently is false.
“There is the will of us and the club to move forward together and find an agreement so that Kvara can continue at Napoli with an improved contract. I have always dreamed of having such a player, I am proud of him and I thank God. By now he has become a member of my family.
“We all dreamed of the Scudetto, the whole of Georgia is happy and it is nice to see them celebrating. Thanks to all the people who support Kvaratskhelia and are happy with its success. I can tell you that Khvicha will not be satisfied with that, he will become even stronger.”
Finally, Jugeli discussed the upcoming Under-21 European Championship.
“Everything will be done in the interest of the national team, also because he was called up to the first team. He will do well in this tournament, he has the desire to play with the Under-21 team.”
