Lazio are on the hunt for a left-back in January, with their targets including PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa and Patrick van Aanholt of Galatasaray, with Vedat Muriqi possibly used in exchange.

The switch to a 4-3-3 formation under Maurizio Sarri has fundamentally transformed the squad that for so many years worked with a three-man defence and coach Simone Inzaghi.

Some have taken longer to adapt than others, including Manuel Lazzari on the left.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sarri has requested reinforcements at left-back on the January transfer market.

The primary target would be Kurzawa, who has been pushed out of the Paris Saint-Germain squad and could be available on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Even then, his salary represents an issue for the Biancocelesti, so PSG would need to cover a portion of the €4m per season wages.

An intriguing candidate is 31-year-old Dutchman van Aanholt, who is currently playing for Galatasaray.

Lazio could potentially use Muriqi as part of an exchange, because the striker has so completely failed to convince Sarri that when Ciro Immobile is absent, the coach would rather use Felipe Anderson or Pedro as a False 9 than rely on the Kosovo international.

Muriqi was purchased from Fenerbahce in 2020 for €20m, so would relish a return to Turkey, where he also impressed at Giresunspor, Genclerbirligi and Rizespor.
