Aleksandar Kolarov says he wants to “set an example” at Roma after being officially unveiled by the club on Friday.

Kolarov left Manchester City to join Roma last month, signing a three-year contract with the Giallorossi, and the experienced left-back is ready to put his Lazio past behind him.

“I was very well received by both the Coach and the players,” he began.

“I played with Dzeko for 4-5 years and I’m happy to be able to play with him again. We want to win the title and we can’t wait to start the season.

“Have I spoken to Eusebio Di Francesco? I’ll talk to the Coach. I feel good, I’ve integrated well, I’m happy to be here and we can’t wait to start the season.

“I’ve not played much on the wings for a while, but I always try to improve and I think I can do so much in both [the middle and on the left].

“I came here to win, I want to set an example both on and off the pitch. "At 31, I feel ripened, the season is long and I’ll be ready for it.

“Lazio? My past is what it is, I can’t and I don’t want to forget it, but as I gave 100 percent there and at City, I’m ready to do the same here too. If I score in the derby, I’ll celebrate.

“I talked to the [sporting] director and found a deal with him in five minutes.

“I know the club because I played at Lazio and I’m happy to have this opportunity.

“Mahrez? He’s a top player, no doubt. I’d be happy if he came, but the sporting director’s the one that answers these questions and he makes the decisions.

“His quality isn’t up for discussion. It’s difficult to mark him.”
