Miroslav Klose is unlikely to make it for Sunday's Rome derby after Lazio medics confirmed a sprained knee.

The striker picked up the problem during international duty with Germany and has been sent home early.

“Klose returned overnight from the Germany camp,” read a statement on the Biancocelesti website.

“At lunchtime he went to the Paidea clinic accompanied by the club doctors and underwent specialist tests. These confirmed the presence of a small sprain in advanced state of healing on the internal collateral ligament of the left knee.

“From this afternoon he will undergo therapy and, as for Sunday's game, his condition will be evaluated over the next 48 hours.”
