Lazio hitman Miroslav Klose warns Milan he is “in great shape” and further boosted by his goals for Germany.

He earned a penalty and scored during the record-breaking 6-1 victory in the Republic of Ireland on Friday night.

It was his 65th international goal, just three shy of the total by legendary Gerd Muller.

“I would never dream of comparing myself to Muller. I already told him in person that he will always be the number one, regardless of statistics.

“I have received criticism, but I keep my mouth shut and let others speak. My performance must be judged after every game and I don’t think I have anything else to prove.”

Klose returns to Rome on Wednesday to prepare for this weekend’s showdown between Lazio and Milan.

“It will be a wonderful match and I am in great shape. There is nothing better than playing well, winning and scoring to help a player feel good.

“It often happens to me, of course, but I hope once again Germany can help me in Serie A.”
