Simon Kjaer and his agent have both confirmed that Roma remain the defender’s first choice this summer, but they are still waiting for an offer.

The Giallorossi loaned the Danish defender for the 2011-12 campaign from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, but some indifferent form in Serie A has left uncertainty over the Italians’ decision to sign him outright this summer.

Even so, the former Palermo centre-back has reaffirmed his desire to stay in the capital, but with one condition for Zdenek Zeman.

“The purchase option expired on June 1, but we expected this, given that they had yet to announce their new Coach,” the defender told Calcionews24.com.

“I am calm, I would like to stay, but it won’t be if I have to settle into a new system.”

His agent also looked to add clarification to the situation.

“We have not set any deadlines, I have good dialogue wit the sporting director Walter Sabatini, who asked me for some time, so we have not put any pressure on.

“They know that the player wants to stay and the signals we are getting are positive, so hopefully the situation will be resolved next week.

“If there should not be an agreement with Roma, we will evaluate the proposals of the other interested clubs.”
