Simon Kjaer says he's thankful to Roma for ending his nightmare in German football with Wolfsburg.

The Danish international joined the Giallorossi on transfer deadline day after a difficult 12 months in the Bundesliga.

The Danish international joined the Giallorossi on transfer deadline day after a difficult 12 months in the Bundesliga.

"Being at Roma now is simply fantastic," he stated. "I'm incredibly happy with my switch and it came as an enormous relief to me.

"I had a very frustrating time in Germany and I knew that the club could have sold me to another side."

Wolfsburg started the last campaign with great hopes, but spent most of the season fighting against relegation.

Kjaer, formerly of Palermo, was also paired with a switch to Juventus” data-scaytid=”7″>Juventus over the summer but opted to link up again with Walter Sabatini – the Roma sporting director who signed him in Sicily.

The centre-back, 22, has played in three Serie A games for the Giallorossi so far this term.
