Rick Karsdorp underlined his happiness at his Roma return and reflected on the rumours surrounding his argument with coach Jose Mourinho.

The 28-year-old Dutch right back was accused of being unprofessional by the Portuguese coach and was invited to leave the club following their 1-1 draw with Sassuolo on November 9, his last appearance for the Giallorossi.

Karsdorp looked destined to leave Roma in the January transfer window but a move away failed to materialise. Since his stay in the Italian capital became apparent, he mended his relationship with Mourinho and Roma, allowing him to be reintegrated into the squad.

Speaking to Roma’s media department, Karsdorp opened up about his recent issues, his happiness at his return and the rumours surrounding his fracture with the club.

“In the last two weeks I had some problems with my knee, it was swollen, and I felt pain. But now I feel good, especially from a physical point of view. I’ve been working a lot in the gym, also outside of here, on an individual level. I’m happy to be back.

“This is my sixth year here and I love playing for this club. The thing I want to say about the issues between me and the coach is that people like FIFPro and my lawyer were not speaking on my behalf. People said things that were not true.

“I just want to play for this club and, as I said before, I am happy to be back. It’s always nice to play a match every three or four days. Before, I was used to doing that and, as I said before, I am happy to be back.”

The 28-year-old Karsdorp joined Roma from Feyenoord in July 2017 from Feyenoord in a deal worth around €16m. Since his arrival in the Italian capital, the Dutchman has scored one goal and provided 13 assists across 122 appearances.
