“Kalinic is a champion,” Della Valle said outside the Viola youth team’s Christmas party.
“Players like him make the difference in any team, and we’ve tied him down with a clause of €50m.

“We want to do that with all our best players, starting with [Federico] Bernardeschi. We’re used to defending ourselves from half of Europe, and in January we want to talk about other things.
“Will we sign anyone in January? You know what I think of that window, if we have to then we’ll intervene.”
The Tuscan side face Genoa, Lazio and Napoli before Christmas, and have been handed a tough tie with Borussia Monchengladbach in the Europa League.
“We’re expecting three dangerous games, but we’ve had a positive attitude for the last month and we can compete in all of them.
“The Europa League draw? It could have been worse, there was also Manchester United. We’ll play our game against Borussia Monchengladbach.”
