Tuttosport suggests that Juventus are working on limiting the damage in their battle against the FIGC’s point deduction, preparing a pre-deferral agreement.

The Bianconeri were handed a 15-point point penalty by the Italian FA back in January for falsifying their capital gains through inflated player transfer values. They appealed to CONI’s Collegio di Garanzia, who decided last month to temporarily annul the punishment pending a third trial.

It’s now a race against time for the FIGC, who are working to close the case and finalise proceedings before the end of this season, allowing the penalty to be imposed immediately rather than delayed until next campaign.

As detailed by Tuttosport, Juventus are now expected to receive a new penalty on Monday May 22, when it’s likely that they’ll be given a nine-point deduction, the amount originally requested by FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné.

The deadline to charge Juventus for their secret player wage payments expires on May 13 and Chiné has asked for a technical extension, which could be a hint that the two parties are working on a pre-deferral agreement, something that would allow the defendant to limit the penalty by up to half.
