FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio says JuventusNapoli can “represent Italy” and generate foreign interest.

The Partenopei lead the defending champions by two points at the top of Serie A, and the pair meet in Turin on Saturday night.

“This is a good week,” Tavecchio told reporters outside a meeting of clubs and referees.

“Both for Juventus-Napoli and Sanremo [music festival]. It’s a wonderful clash, two great teams and fanbases, nothing is lacking in terms of representing Italy at the maximum level, abroad too.

“The absence of Napoli fans is a real shame, we’ve set up a commission to study the risks and challenges of the Italian League.

“It’s a commission of people who know football and have no agenda. Closing stadiums isn’t a solution.”

Tavecchio then went on to explain the reason for today’s meeting.

“The reasons for this meeting are simple: the rules were explained so that everyone can understand them.

“I hope we can repeat them several times during the year. I hope these meetings will calm the situation, given the point we’re in with the League, which will determine the winner.”
