The Uruguayan defender made just six Serie A appearances last season amid disciplinary and injury problems, and is now free to move elsewhere.

“Juventus Football Club can today confirm the departure of Martin Caceres, whose contract expires today on 30 June 2016,” an official statement on the Bianconeri’s website began.

“Now at the end of his second spell with the Bianconeri, the Uruguayan defender will be forever remembered as one of eight players to have featured in all five of the Old Lady’s history-making consecutive Scudetto titles, to which he added three Italian Super Cups and two Coppa Italia crowns.

“Although limited to just 449 minutes of action in his final campaign in Turin following lengthy injury lay-offs inflicted in October and February, Martin will be remembered fondly by fans and players alike for his sterling service to the club.

“This year’s Serie A triumph is still the Uruguayan’s fifth in a row for the Bianconeri who haven’t looked back since welcoming him into their ranks, a remarkable achievement nonetheless for a player who has enjoyed nothing but success throughout his career to date.

“All associated with the club would like to thank Martin for his efforts in a history-making five-season spell and wish him all the best for the future, whatever it may hold.”
