Juventus fans have let loose with a series of memes mocking Cristiano Ronaldo after Manchester United failed to qualify for the Champions League, but others felt regret he walked away to achieve so little.

The legend demanded a transfer in the final days of the summer window, eventually agreeing terms with the Old Trafford fallen giants.

Today’s 4-0 defeat to Brighton means Manchester United mathematically cannot qualify for the Champions League in the 2022-23 campaign.

Naturally, this sparked mockery online from Bianconeri supporters, who already locked down their spot with a month to spare.

Memes include: “When you leave Juve to win the Champions League and then don’t even qualify,” and “The face Cristiano Ronaldo makes next season when scoring a Conference League group stage hat-trick against Craiova.”

There were insults towards Ronaldo’s sister, who had been so critical of Juventus during the final months of his time in Turin.

“This is the great team that her brother deserved???”

Bitterness towards CR7 for the way he walked out on Juve in the last few weeks of the summer, giving them no time to adjust to the massive change, lingers on.

“He left us in the **** to join the only club among the European top tier who are in an even worse state than we are. Enjoy the Europa League, Cristiano.”

Yet there was also sadness at a missed opportunity because Ronaldo did not believe in Max Allegri’s side.

“We are in the Champions League and you no… You could’ve stayed one more year… and the Scudetto would’ve been ours.”

Some Juve fans managed to make fun of both the situations of the two clubs.

“Ah Cristiano, with us you’d at least have played in the Champions League Round of 16…”

  1. It’s not like Juventus are in a better state than Man Utd, they just play in a weaker league. I think Ronaldo simply wanted to leave Italy at all costs, for which team didn’t matter. There were rumours he was close to City but they pulled back so United was his only option. He should have left sooner though and allow Juventus time to get a replacement instead of making panic buys like Kean in the last minute.

  2. He must really regret missing out on 4th place trophy and a 3-0 spanking against Villarreal. Anyhow juve wouldn’t finish top 4 in Premier league.

  3. The master – I agree with everything except, Man U are in shambles. Not Juve. Man U wouldn’t finish top 4 in Serie A either.

  4. I don’ think he left Juve to win the CL with MU.

No-one in their right mind thought United were good enough to win that. They had as much chance as any Italian club – very little.

The jokers running MU would fit in well with the jokers running Serie A, actually.

  5. Can’t have a player like that in any club unless you throw club business out of the door. (Or increase capital base) Only thing that made me mad was that he threw the toys out of his pram with barely 4 days to go in the transfer window. Bye!

  6. Ronaldo is poison, Man U was better without him. Juve was lucky to ditch him. He is a selfish player. I would not want him on my team. Go to the MLS to be a side show.

  7. Ronaldo has more champions league titles to his name than Juventus, so Juve fans ( at least those with attitude) should show some humility and just focus on their own backyard.

  8. Man Utd have been a mess for 10 years since Sir Alex left, so no surprise but this is good for them. By not getting CL they have to revamp everything not just players but the crumbling training ground and stadium which has been overshadowed on the East part of Manchester. Who knows what will happen with Ten Hag, but in regards to Juve finishing 4th will make them complacent yet again. Actually not getting into top 4 would in theory by the catalyst to change, from getting rid of the rise of slow ball, evolution of dinosaur 2.0 Omicron Max part deux, as well as revamping the senior leadership. Even though they would lose enormous amounts of money I am sure they will be doing band aid repair works to the leaking ceiling with Cowboy Max.

  9. One has to wonder how many Champiobs League titles of Real Madrid is really more down to Ballon d’Or winner Modric & probably d’Or winner Benzema…..
I mean if Benzema wins Ballon d’Or that team had 3 Ballon d’Ir winners
    & then…maybe Ronaldo should never have 5….
Could Ronaldo be history’s most ocer rated player ever…..

  10. Ronaldo’s quality is unquestionable and deserves respect. He did his best at Juve and as Del Piero said, a player than guarantees you over 30 goals a season isn’t the problem. But he needs a team built around him and he didn’t have that at Juve because Paratici thought that spending the budget on him and getting some ‘free’ players was the solution. Not sure what was going through his head to go to Utd because a team with Maguire as captain cannot ever be serious title or cup contenders.

  11. NOrata, thanks for the most decent and intelligent comment of the day.
Glad to still have fans around, no matter what team, that can contribute instead of trolling and yelling around about things they don’t have single clue of.

  12. Well…it looks like what is happening to Man U is the same that happened to Juve. The team scores less & do worse with Ronaldo.
Maybe he should have gone to MLS in the summer of 2018?
    Now his legacy will be:
    Sign Ronaldo & deteriorate as a team/club.

  13. I don’t know about anybody else but when Ronnie was at Juv I would go see the highlights after every game. Not a fan boy but I did like the guy.

  14. Sherlock he scored 28 goals in his first season and his worst stats under who…

No wonder why he ran for the hills when a certain you know who came back home.

  15. Ronaldo will abandon United, just like he did to Juve. Wait for it this summer, he will be sign for Real Madrid again , or maybe PSG or Man City or Bayern.
The guy is a great player but the only thing he cares about is HIMSELF and HIS SUCCESS

  16. United are at best a bottom-mid level Serie A team. United are perpetually overrated, even now. No league in the world where United have the chance to finish fourth can be considered the strongest league in the world. City and Liverpool are quality, but the rest are patchy at best. The distance between city and Liverpool makes the Premier League look like how the Spanish league looked for so long: two strong sides and stragglers thereafter. Ende.

  17. He left Juventus because of Allegri’s arrival (even though he was already there and he said he wasn’t leaving) to go to Utd to score less goals and be captained by Maguire and barely make Europe. Thanks for the laugh, Lord!
Ronaldo was ace and always will be. Even in a poor season, he scored pretty much double what Morata and Dybala did. I miss Ronaldo at Juve. I don’t miss Ramsey or Bentancur, for example. Won’t miss Rabiot or Arthur, either. Siuuuuuu!!!

  18. Sorry to disappoint you clown but I am not MG and I was out then anyway. It is called a time zone. Paranoia and TDS seems to have infected you or made your pre-existing condition worse. It is clear to see how I type/speak as I like sarcasm and humor. You just got triggered that a lot of fans have woken up, seen the light or actually agree with me from time to time. Some fans agree with you but they are entitled to believe what they want to as its called free speech and as long as its done in good taste, no issues for me illiberal liberal. PS his goal tally under the roaming dinosaur is 28 but glad to see you made it up and still one short lol. He guarantees you 30 plus just not with Omicron 2.0 slow and this current Manchester team. Take a chill pill and stop letting paranoia take over your rationale.

  19. Ronaldo was clearly a problem for Juve. If he would accept a much lower wage and not demand a starting spot then maybe he would be good to have been a useful part of their squad. Unfortunately he views other players as his backing band.

It isn’t that he is a terrible player, he clearly is a very good one ( no longer an extraordinary one), but his inability to be a leader and a team-player, along with his wages preventing other investment made him a problem.

  20. NOrata – I get your point about A 30 goal a season player not being a problem, but I think other circumstances change that with Ronaldo.

He was signed to be the icing on the cake to lift that team to Champions League glory. But then after one season it was clear it hadn’t worked and this project was abandoned in favour of a new one – and Sarri was brought in. At this point Ronaldo became a problem. Because you can’t rationally start a new project with a 34 year old at the centre of it.

At that point what they needed was to ship him and his titanic wages out and begin a new project with a young striker like Vlahovic.

Now he is gone Juve are able to start a new project. If Juve had Vlahovic from the summer Juve would obviously be title contenders.

Sarri and Pirlo were given hopeless situations
