Juventus fans in Curva Sud applauded Massimiliano Allegri at halftime when the announcer said that the coach had replaced Adrien Rabiot.

The Frenchman started in the middle of the park for the Bianconeri against Cagliari, but his game only lasted 45 minutes.

You can follow the match live on the Football Italia liveblog.

Allegri replaced the former PSG man with Weston McKennie during the break and when the Allianz Stadium announcer communicated the substitution, a big part of the Curva Sud applauded the Tuscan tactician.

The Allianz Stadium is almost empty tonight as only 11,172 fans are watching the game from the stands, the club announced.

Rabiot joined Juventus in a free transfer from PSG in 2019.

He is among the highest earners in Turin with a €7m-a-year salary.

Allegri has often claimed that the Frenchman must improve his performances, but the 26-year-old has still collected 19 appearances across all competitions this season.

Rabiot’s contract at the Allianz Stadium expires in June 2023.

The France international has played 101 games with the Bianconeri, scoring six goals.

  1. For everyone’s sake, including the players, he needs to leave.
He negotiated this huge contract for 7mil and just isnt good enough

  2. Besides an occasional spark, he doesn’t perform consistently. He also doesn’t seem to improve sufficiently over the years, altough he seems a bit more determined with the ball than when he arrived.
Still easily better than Artur and Bentancur with the ball.

  3. In the France days Rabiot was a road runner just check reels online but I never saw that at Juv almost as though a different person. Odd.

Allegri is correct and has a keen eye to what is going on here with the entire club .

  4. @Chris: It was not him, but his mother. He came for free so agent could pocket a nice signing-on fee as well.

Mommy`s boy still not living up the contract his mom got him…

  5. I seem to remember Juve as a team, which did not overpay for transfers, but instead made sure to get the right player. And then did not overpay wages, because Juve wins around a trophy per season on average, and it is from the outside seemingly a club that is good at taking care of its players. You hear a lot of whining from players elsewhere, but not from Juve.

Juve used to be known for winning, playing boring football, cheating, and for having excellent club administration. At the moment it seems they are closest to playing boring football, and neither almost apply to the club.

    What happened?

  6. If he’s not good enough and not showing any sign of improving then ofload him! It’s pointless keeping average players with huge salary and eventually losing them for free. Alegri has giving him a lot of playing time and he’s not justified the coach’s faith in him
