Juventus have confirmed their defender Danilo suffered an adductor injury which will keep him out of action for at least eight weeks.

“The diagnostic tests Danilo underwent this morning at J|Medical showed a medium degree lesion of the adductor longus muscle of the left thigh,” Juventus official statement read.

“The initial recovery time is expected to be approximately eight weeks.”

Danilo sustained the injury during the first half of Juventus’ Serie A match against Lazio on Saturday.

The 30-year-old is one of the regular starters in Turin having played 14 games across all competitions so far this season, 1,175 minutes in total.

Only Leonardo Bonucci, Manuel Locatelli and Wojciech Szczesny have had more playing time this season.

He was among the players that didn’t train at Continassa this morning, along with Giorgio Chiellini, Mattia De Sciglio, Federico Bernardeschi, Aaron Ramsey and Dejan Kulusevski who will all miss tomorrow’s match against Chelsea.

Danilo joined Juventus in a €37m move from Manchester City in 2019. He has played 91 games with the Old Lady, scoring three goals. His contract in Turin expires in June 2024.

  1. Hope for a speedy and trouble-free recovery. He is the exact type of player that I love, similar to Mario Mandzukic and Blaise Matuidi in recent years. Players that don’t have all the technical skills or social media hype around them but they just get their heads down and give everything for the team. The team will surely miss him over these next crucial matches.
    Forza Danilo, Forza Juve.
