The Bianconeri are coming off a heavy 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid and some of these adjustments could also be the start of preparations for the second leg on March 12.

That result was the culmination of several poor performances, including a 3-0 Coppa Italia exit at the hands of Atalanta last month and 3-3 draw with Parma in Serie A.

Max Allegri must also deal with injury issues, as Sami Khedira and Juan Cuadrado are out for at least another month each following heart and knee surgery respectively.

Douglas Costa is also injured, Emre Can suspended and Miralem Pjanic struggling with flu symptoms.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Juventus will switch to a 3-4-3 formation to bolster the wings in the absence of a strong midfield.

Martin Caceres could play at centre-back with Giorgio Chiellini potentially rested in favour of Daniele Rugani.

Federico Bernardeschi scored against Bologna in the Coppa Italia earlier this season and can adapt to several different systems or roles.

The former Fiorentina man is likely to start rather than Paulo Dybala, but there’s no rest for Cristiano Ronaldo or Mario Mandzukic.

Another alternative would be a 4-4-2 formation, with Caceres instead moved to right-back.

Joao Cancelo would therefore be on the right wing in a more advanced role, with Bernardeschi on the left.

Possible line-up

Juventus (3-4-3): Perin; Caceres, Bonucci, Rugani; Cancelo, Bentancur, Matuidi, Alex Sandro; Ronaldo, Mandzukic, Bernardeschi

Juventus (4-4-2): Perin; Caceres, Bonucci, Rugani, Alex Sandro; Cancelo, Matuidi, Bentancur, Bernardeschi; Cristiano Ronaldo, Mandzukic
