Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri reunited with Gigi Buffon after a 1-0 loss against Roma on Sunday, praising the ex-Bianconeri keeper: ‘I remember a save on Andres Iniesta…’

The Italian tactician spoke to La Domenica Sportiva following the Old Lady’s loss against José Mourinho’s Roma. Buffon was in the studio and briefly talked to his former coach.

“Gigi knows I don’t have a great feeling with goalkeepers, but it was thrilling to see him make saves,” said Allegri as quoted by Tuttosport.

“I remember a crucial save on Iniesta, at home, at minute 45- It changed the game and the final result. These are things that only champions are able to do. You can’t plan these things. There are no tactics, nothing, only Mother Nature. His mother and father did a good job. There are categories. Otherwise, we’d all be the same. Luckily it’s not like this,” concluded the coach who was thanked by Buffon for his words.

Allegri referred to a save performed by Buffon in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals between Juventus and Barcelona in Turin in 2017.

Juventus won 3-0 at the Allianz Stadium and qualified for the semis after a 0-0 draw in the second leg in Barcelona the following week.

Juventus went on to qualify for the Final, which they lost 4-1 against Real Madrid in Cardiff.

Buffon is currently under contract with Serie B side Parma until 2024.

“If my body helps me and my energy level remains the same, I have no reasons to retire,” said the 45-year-old.

“However, this may happen when Parma return to Serie A and I have no more targets to pursue.”

The Ducali sit seventh in the Serie B table and are currently in the play-off zone. They are nine points below Bari in second place, which would grant direct promotion to Serie A.
