As the player confirms he will evaluate his situation, Juventus are being linked with opening talks with Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Switzerland international’s struggles for first-team football at Bayern Munich did have him strongly linked with a move during the summer, with Serie A seen as a likely destination too.

However, as rumoured interest failed to materialise, the 23-year-old committed himself to the Bavarians heading into the season.

During the international break, though, the player has made clear that he is still not happy with his current situation in Germany, and that talks will be held mid-season.

“To do well I need to feel the trust of the club and of the Coach, but it is not always that way,” Shaqiri has told Neue Zürcher Zeitung this week.

“That is why in the summer I pushed to leave, because I wanted more continuity and to try something new.

“It is not nice to see yourself overtaken in the team by a 17-year-old, but I was asked to stay and so I did.

“Certainly in January we will meet with the club to talk about my future.”

Tuttosport follow this up today by asserting that in recent weeks Shaqiri has already informed Juventus of his willingness to consider a switch to Turin.

It is reported that intermediaries representing the player will even meet with Juve officials as early as next week to discuss the possibility of opening negotiations in January.

Tuttosport conclude that ‘much will depend on the situation of Arturo Vidal’.
