Juventus could reportedly miss out on Axel Witsel as Zenit St Petersburg are holding firm on their €10m valuation of the midfielder.

According to Calciomercato.com, Witsel is in “total agreement” with Juve over a January transfer, but the Bianconeri have yet to show any indications that they will go beyond €6m for the Belgian.

Despite the player’s contract due to expire this summer, the Russians are in no need of a cash injection and seem unlikely to back down on their €10m asking price, while they already secured a replacement in Brazilian midfielder Hernani.

Consequently, the website claims the impasse has opened the door to Premier League clubs such as Everton and Chelsea, plus Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, who are managed by former Zenit boss Andre Villas-Boas and “ready to do anything” to bring in the 27-year-old.

Barcelona are also said to be interested in Witsel, but only once his contract expires.
