Sokratis Papastathopoulos could be set for a return to Serie A this summer, with Juventus reportedly considering a swap deal for Eljero Elia.

Dutch winger Elia is set to depart the Turin outfit this summer after a dismal season for the Italian champions saw him sidelined for the most part.

Werder Bremen are reportedly interested in taking the 25-year-old back to the Bundesliga after just 12 months, but as Calciomercato.com report, are struggling to meet the €9m valuation Juventus have placed on him.

Subsequently, they are understood to be considering a lower cash offer by including former Milan centre-back Papastathopoulos in negotiations.

The Germans have only just completed a permanent deal to sign the 24-year-old Greek international from Genoa, believed to be for around €4.5m after an initial 12-month loan.

However, they are thought to be prepared to include him in talks because of the belief that Juve are interested in him. The centre-back claimed less than two weeks ago to have had contact with Bianconeri officials.
