Inter shot-stopper Julio Cesar is being linked with a surprise move to Roma this summer, as problems with Maarten Stekelenburg reportedly continue.

Brazilian Cesar, who is on the market after the Nerazzurri’s move for Samir Handanovic, is this evening being paired with a switch to the capital club.

Whilst the deal would require the 32-year-old to take a sizeable pay cut, Sky Sport Italia report that he is an option that is looking increasingly likely in light of reported struggles with current No 1 Stekelenburg.

The Dutchman has apparently been struggling in pre-season under new Coach Zdenek Zeman’s training and technical methods, particularly with the extra demands set to be placed on his movement out of his area with the ball.

Whilst his agent moved last night to deny that there were any issues, understudy Bogdan Lobont is reportedly set to be favoured over the 29-year-old in preparation for the start of the season.
