The midfielder quickly became a star and a first team regular at Parma last season and joined the Rossoneri over the summer as a free agent.

However, the 19-year-old has made only two Coppa Italia appearances for the club, one of them for eight minutes.

“The player is not on the market, as Sinisa Mihajlovic openly said he’d like to keep him, so other clubs won’t approach if he is declared not for sale,” agent Dino Zampacorta told MilanNews.it.

“He is very young, but can’t even get a few minutes in the Coppa Italia. With great respect for the Coach and his choices, President Silvio Berlusconi said he wants strong young players at Milan and I think Jose can become that kind of figure. I don’t understand why he never plays.

“Milan wanted him so strongly this summer, but the Coach either can’t see his quality or doesn’t consider him to be reliable. Yet the Coach also says he wants to keep him. There is confusion.

“The lad is very bitter for many reasons. He is 19 years old, but very mature for his age, lives a calm life and doesn’t go out clubbing or drink alcohol.

“He didn’t come to Milan to warm the bench or even the stands. That is not why he came here. He already has many Serie A appearances under his belt with Parma and played consistently well, yet with Milan he can’t get a single minute in the Coppa Italia against Carpi. That means something is wrong.

“After last night’s game he was very upset and frustrated. There is no faith in him, which contrasts what the Coach and club say.

“Mauri has the utmost respect for the Coach, he doesn’t want to cause controversy, but he is feeling very let down. He has a lot of character, on the field and off, so he won’t ever give up.”
