Jorginho confesses it was ‘spectacular’ to receive praise from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola but insists he is out to ‘conquer’ Serie A with Napoli.

Jorginho’s admiration of Guardiola contrasts his apparent lack of passion for City’s arch-rivals Manchester United, although the Napoli midfielder asserted ending the season with a Scudetto was his primary concern.

“Guardiola? If you receive praise for the work you’re doing, it’s good. if you receive it from a Coach who’s very important in world football, it’s something spectacular and I can only be grateful,” he continued to the Brazilian Press after Italy’s 1-1 with England.

“Certainly it’s the result of my work, but it’s also that of all my Napoli teammates. As for the future, there are two months left of a very difficult and hard-fought campaign.

“I’m very focused on this because thinking of something else takes a lot of energy away from you.

“I don’t want to waste any energy because I want to try and get into Napoli’s history and conquer this League.”
