The Napoli midfielder finally signed a five-year contract with the Blues this morning, just hours after Sarri was appointed.

This infuriated Manchester City, with stories in the English media claiming they had shaken hands on the deal, but the player was pressured into going towards Chelsea instead.

Some even suggested Napoli threatened to leave Jorginho on the bench for two seasons if he did not accept.

However, Sportitalia transfer guru Alfredo Pedulla, who has been closest to the Sarri situation from start to finish, assures this evening that Jorginho was “absolutely free and happy to choose” Chelsea.

Ultimately, Sarri’s presence made the difference, having worked so well with the Coach at Napoli for three years.
