Napoli midfielder Jorginho insists he has “good relations” with Gonzalo Higuain, as Italy prepare to face Argentina.

The two were teammates in Naples, but in the summer of 2016 Juventus activated Pipita’s release clause and he moved north to Turin.

“In football you come and go,” Jorginho shrugged, speaking in a Press conference at Coverciano today.

“Sometimes you stay in touch with some more than others, but good relations always remain.

“Argentina? We can’t be afraid, we have to be aware of their strengths but also their weaknesses. We need to have the courage to play our football, to hurt them when we get the chance.

“It’s a very important game, when you play against national teams of a certain level it’s always an important chance.

“For us it will help us to understand where we are, and where we need to improve and grow.”

Jorginho was born in Brazil, but he grew up in Italy and was eligible for both national teams.

While the midfielder wanted to play for the Azzurri, he was repeatedly overlooked by Giampiero Ventura, and until the play-off with Sweden there was talk of the Selecao.

“I have no regrets, this country gave me the opportunity to realize my dream, to become a footballer.

“I really wanted it, and then the call never came… then there was some talk about Brazil, and I did think about it a bit, but I have no regrets.”
