The Casteddu lost 1-0 to Inter on Sunday and extended their losing streak to four Serie A game.

Joao Pedro, who has scored 13 goals in 30 games this term, conceded that the Rossoblu must act, with five points up to safety and eight games remaining.

“We’re sorry about the result and Parma arrive on Saturday, for a match that will tell everything about our future,” Joao Pedro told the club’s official website.

“We are a strong team, which has human and technical values, there are players who can make a difference and it’s up to us to change the destiny that seems to be written in the standings.”

The Rossoblu gave Inter a fight for the points at San Siro, but Matteo Darmian eventually broke down the relegation-threatened visitors.

“Unfortunately, we often suffer goals or lose the games due to a few incidents that condemn us,” Joao Pedro continued.

“After the disadvantage, we tried and gave our all, but it wasn’t enough. We had the leaders in front of us, a very strong team that punishes you and defend well.

“We have to start from the performance, many words are often spoken but now we need to give a true signal.

“There’s time, we can still save ourselves. We are not allowed to give up, we care and are called to demonstrate in practice to our people.”

And regarding the fans, Joao Pedro said the players feel a ‘strong responsibility’ for the Sardinians.

“We have a strong responsibility towards the Rossoblu fans,” he said. “We are trying with all our strength, it’s not the time for obvious banal phrases if they’re not supported by facts.

“There are eight vital games for us, we must honour the enormous value of the Cagliari shirt until the end.”
