Joao Pedro is available again for Cagliari after his ban expired for failing a doping test, but the situation remains unclear.

The Brazilian trequartista failed a standard doping test for a diuretic after games against Sassuolo and Chievo in February.

He was temporarily banned for 60 days pending a trial and that has now expired, but the trial hasn’t been completed yet.

There is a hearing set for May 16, meaning he could technically be allowed to play before that date.

Cagliari are battling against relegation and could certainly do with Joao Pedro’s help on the field, as he scored five goals this season prior to his ban.

The player and club insist he is innocent, having accidentally ingested the banned diuretic as part of a legal integrator.

Nonetheless, the FIGC prosecutor requested a four-year ban.

Joao Pedro was able to train regularly with the rest of his teammates today and could in theory be called up against Fiorentina and Atalanta.
