Inter are increasingly eager to exchange Joao Mario with Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January.

According to the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, the Nerazzurri are working on the swap deal.

There is only one problem, as Mkhitaryan is a non-EU player and his arrival would effectively block Inter from signing Ramires on loan from Jiangsu Suning.

The original plan had been to hand Portugal international Joao Mario over to Paris Saint-Germain in exchange for Javier Pastore, but the Mkhitaryan option is enticing to Coach Luciano Spalletti.

The Armenia international turns 29 in January and made the move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United for €42m in the summer of 2016.

This season he has contributed two goals and six assists in 17 competitive games for Jose Mourinho’s side.
