Catania's Argentine midfielder Mariano Izco has confirmed that he is fit and ready to play against Fiorentina on Sunday.

The 29-year-old was confident he will be available for the clash with the Viola at the weekend, and also confirmed there will be no problems when he comes up against old boss Vincenzo Montella.

“I am fine,” he stated today. “I was out for 10 days, but I have been training regularly for a while now.

“I think the [international] break has done us good. A lot of our players have gotten over small physical problems and the team has continued to train very well.

“It will be nice to meet Montella, he is a great person. But it is a game like any other. He knows us and we know him, there are no advantages.

“Both teams are playing well, so I expect it to be a good game. Compared to previous matches it will tactically be a very different challenge, and also because of their good form.”

The former Tigre man concluded the interview by commenting on the Viola’s Stevan Jovetic and his excellent start to the season.

“Jovetic is very strong. He always seems to start a season well, so our defenders and midfielders will need to be concentrating all the time.”
