Juan Iturbe says his future is with Roma, declaring ‘I want to prove myself on the pitch’.

The Argentine joined the Giallorossi this summer in a €22m deal from Verona, but has attracted criticism after just one goal and one assist in Serie A.

“At Verona we always played on the counter, and it was easier,” Iturbe explained in an interview with Sky.

“Against Roma teams park the bus. I’m learning lot here under [Coach Rudi] Garcia, who always takes time to speak to me and my teammates.

“I still have a lot to learn, I only arrived this year and there’s still a long way to go.

“I want to stay here, it’s only my first year, and I want to achieve so many beautiful things with this club which has invested a lot in me.

The 21-year-old also discussed his compatriot Paulo Dybala, who is reportedly a target for the Lupi.

“We have the same agent, and he introduced us last year. He’s a good lad, and he’s doing very good things [with Palermo].

“Hopefully he can continue like that and we see him in a big team.

“Roma? We need a player like him, a talented left-footer who plays in attack, but we’ll see. In football, you never know.”
