Angelo Ogbonna insists his Italy side were unfortunate to lose 1-0 to America on Wednesday night.

The Torino defender made his first start for his country and despite an impressive display, he couldn’t help the Azzurri avoid defeat.

“They had two shots and scored with their second,” the Serie B stopper noted at the end of the Marassi encounter.

“There is not a lot to say really,” he added. “We were just unlucky tonight, but we remain a really strong squad.”

Ogbonna, winning his second cap, played as a centre-back in the first half and was used as a left-back in the second.

“I am more suited to playing in the middle and I perform better in that position,” continued the 23-year-old.

“The Coach wanted to see me play as a full-back too though. I had a few difficulties, but it went well.”
