Speaking during a lengthy interview with Milan TV, the World Cup winning former midfielder expressed his belief that the ‘quality is there’ for Italy to succeed.

“I watched the Nazionale,” Gattuso commented. “It’s a shame we’re not at the World Cup but it’s part of football.

“The quality is there, I wish Roberto the best. Hopefully Italymake the Euros and qualify for the next World Cup.”

The Milan Coach believes the presence of Leonardo Bonucci and Alessio Romagnoli in the Azzurri side shows his club have the defensive foundations needed to move forward.

“It’s a reward for them. Romagnoli was born in 1995 but he has already played 200 matches.

“He is one of the best in the world because he has quality and quantity.

“We all know about Bonucci. Calabria could have been in there too. For that reason, I think we have the foundations from which to grow.”
