Italy’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Denmark will be played at San Siro on October 16, announced the Federation.

The FIGC confirmed Cesare Prandelli’s men are to be hosted by the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan.

This is the first time that the Azzurri have played in the ‘Scala del Calcio’ since a 0-0 European qualifier against France on September 8, 2007.

Italy are in qualifying Group B for the World Cup along with the Czech Republic, Denmark, Bulgaria, Armenia and Malta.

They will open their campaign on September 7 in Bulgaria and then welcome Malta to the Stadio Braglia in Modena on September 11.

This venue was chosen as a sign of solidarity to those in the Emilia-Romagna area affected by the recent earthquake.

The qualifiers conclude at home to Armenia on October 15, 2013.
