Vincenzo Italiano insists ‘not all is lost’ for Fiorentina after their 4-0 defeat against Lazio on Monday.

The Tuscans return to the pitch tomorrow, hosting Heart of Midlothian in their fourth Conference League group stage game.

“We want to get important points for the Conference League; we’ve reacted in this competition and want to carry on like this,” Italiano said at a press conference.

“We need once again to react after a negative result and to confirm the positives we’ve seen in recent games.

“Lazio are a strong side, they suffered against us but they won 4-0. We need to give credit to those who win. We need to have the same attitude as the game in Edinburgh, if we do it, we can do well. We’ve seen in Europe there are no easy games.

“It’s hard to recover energy when you play twice a week, but European games leave much more: rhythm, intensity, quality,” the coach continued.

“We are a bit behind in Serie A, but not all is lost. I remember when we lost 4-0 against Torino last season and in the next two games, we beat Napoli in Coppa Italia and Genoa 6-0. The team has the pride and the quality to turn things around. I expect to see this pride from the lads.”

Riccardo Sottil doesn’t recover for tomorrow’s European fixture, but Lucas Martinez Quarta is available.

“Sottil has not recovered, Quarta is available, despite breaking his nose, we need to manage him, these are the only border-line situations,” said Italiano.
